My Tyrst with kindness (Singapore- Part 2)

During lock down, it was easy to let the mind wander and bring back memories of past travel experiences. One such day, it took me back to December 2019, when we were visiting cousins in Penang, a tiny island in Malaysia. Of all the adventurous things we did, we tried a new local dish called Char Kway Teow and it was delicious. Fast forward to May 2020, I was suddenly craving for it and couldn't stop myself from exploring eating joints which serve authentic CKT in Singapore. 

"CKT"-Apparently, that's how the locals refer to the dish.

I put up a post on the Facebook page of our condo and within minutes received a response about a tiny gem in our area, which serves yummy CKT. I was told that they used to deliver, but have temporarily stopped during the lock down, which meant I will have to order a take-away at the shop. That didn't matter and I mentally made a note of the address and contact details.

The following day, the person who recommended the place send me a quick message on Facebook messenger. He was in the shop and was wondering if I would like him to pick up CKT for me. I was thrilled and requested for 2. We arranged to meet in the condo premises while he was returning home. I got an opportunity to dig into the heavenly dish once again.

He was kind enough to think about me and offer to bring some CKT, when he didn't have to. Like I mentioned in Part 1, angels are all around us. All we need to do is to wait for the right time and right place to meet them.

    Have you heard of swimming with the whale sharks?  I had not heard about it, I had only heard about "Whale watching" until now. The first whale watching I did was in Boston with friends, where we were taken 25 kms into the ocean and watched some beautiful whales jumping out of the water and also spotted some playful dolphins, all while shivering in the freezing cold, windy weather. This was once upon a time in 2007.  The second time was 15 years later, in 2022, while holidaying in Sydney with cousins. I can recollect this more clearly as this was in the recent times. The Catamaran boat that took us into the ocean had a lot of turbulence due to the high tides that occur when we venture out deep into the ocean. Saw some people throwing up. We were all given puke bags by the staff to be prepared for such incidents. What Paris has to offer                            When you walk down a street and see colorful macaroons in every other cafe, you know you have landed in France. Any child or adult could gawk at these pretty looking things, placed in different patterns, inside glass windows. Macaroons are often baked in edible rice paper placed on a baking tray and the word means "paste" in Italian, referring to the original almond paste used in them.                           In a bakery, when Baguettes and croissants are more common than English white or milk bread, you know you are in France. Crepes are quite widely found too and most cafes can quickly whip up a crepe for your child, with their favorite Nutella or strawberries or cheese.                           If you are asked to name one of the most connected cities in the world, Paris should be on your mind. Without moving a finger!

                                         We were driving off to a friend's home for dinner and as usual, Ms I shouted to us, that she wants to put her songs to listen in the car. We wanted to listen to the radio for a change, but she was stubborn enough to have it her way. The phone was paired to the car's bluetooth. However, we were also looking at the map for directions in the phone and could not quickly navigate to Spotify and search for songs. We were also tasked with shutting her up at the same time by keeping a song she liked quickly.  That's when an idea hit and we started to call Siri for help. After calling her a couple of times, she responded.  We asked "Could you please play a new song of Blackpink?", which is apparently Ms I's current favorite band. After repeating our request a couple of times, Siri exclaimed "Give me one moment to open Spotify and play the song". We waited patiently and less than a minute later, the song started to play
